Old Traditional Romanian Costume from Sălaj Region – Romanian Blouse, Skirt, and Apron (Size M)

Old folk costume from the Sălaj region, consisting of a traditional Romanian blouse (ie), skirt, and apron (zadie).

It is size M, with enough sleeve width around the shoulders to comfortably fit a medium size.

The Romanian blouse and skirt are made of homespun linen and cotton fabric.

The Romanian folk blouse features handmade embroidery on the tunic collar, cuffs, shoulders, and sleeves, using multicolored cotton threads.

The blouse has been extended with a similar fabric, exactly as it was collected from the field.

It is clean, with no defects, and ready to wear.

Collar: 32 cm (≈ 12.6 inches)

Shoulder width: 42 cm (≈ 16.5 inches)

The skirt is very wide, gathered on a string at the waist, and therefore can fit any size.

On the front, which is covered by the apron, there is a small flower detail near the hem.

The skirt is in excellent condition, without defects.

Very old Romanian traditional apron, handmade from black cotton fabric, with multicolored hand-stitching around the waist.

It is manually pleated, with old lace trims on the edges and a red satin ribbon.

Since it is an authentic antique piece, the black cotton fabric is slightly faded, which is normal for such age.

There is a small hole between the pleats, which I have tried to show clearly in the photos (visible better in one picture).

The red satin ribbon is deteriorated, showing stains and small holes.

You may choose to apply a new satin ribbon over it if desired; however, for collection or museum purposes, it is better to preserve it as found, maintaining its historical authenticity.

Despite these signs of age, the apron remains a beautiful, typical piece of old Romanian folk heritage from Sălaj.
