Handmade old Romanian folk costume from Oltenia

Old Romanian traditional costume from the Oltenia region comprises three exquisite pieces: a hand-embroidered Romanian folk dress, a pair of hand crafted Romanian traditional aprons, and a newly made folk belt.

The Romanian folk dress features intricate circular embroidery on the chest, sleeves, and back, showcasing the skillful craftsmanship of the region. A delightful row of embroidery adorns the lower hem, adding an elegant touch to the overall design. The embroidery, skillfully executed with black cotton, creates a striking contrast against the fine, hand-woven cloth that is characteristic of Oltenia.

To fasten the dress, a cord closure is used at the neck, which adds a charming traditional touch. The waistline is positioned lower .

With an estimated age of over 60-80 years, this Romanian traditional dress is a testament to its enduring quality and timeless beauty. Despite its age, the folk dress is well-preserved, with no major flaws only traces of wear . However, it is worth noting that the black embroidery may have undergone some discoloration over time, adding a touch of vintage charm to this remarkable piece.

The Romanian handwoven pair of  traditional aprons features a charming floral pattern against a burgundy background. The frontal apron showcases horizontal rows of multicolored flowers, while the back apron displays vertical rows, adding a delightful contrast. Crafted from cotton, these aprons are perfect for summer wear. Despite their age, they are in good condition, showing minimal signs of wear. No tear, stain, or repair is present. However, these handwoven aprons have never been cleaned and require dry cleaning only. The ribbon which border the hems is new .
