Romanian traditional costume from Bihor , handmade folk wear from Transylvania

Very old traditional Romanian costume fro Transylvania, Bihor. Most likely dated in 1930-1960.

This splendid Romanian costume is hand-sewn on hand woven fabric. The fabric is thick, similar to denim.

Splendid hand embroideries with white cotton on shoulders , cuffs and lower part of skirt .

Fits  XS -S, German 34-36 may be 38 .

Measurements:

neck 30 cm / 11.8 inches . It is closed with strings so will fit to a larger neck too .

from neck to shoulder' s seam  : 14 cm / 5.5 inches . On this seam the circumference is 38 cm or 14.9 inches . If this fit on you , the costume is your size because usually this is the smallest size of the Bihor costumes .

so around shoulder seam : 38 cm or 14.9 inches 

sleeve length from neck : 60 cm / 23.6 inches + frill

blouse length : 50 cm / 19.7 inches

around chest : 120 cm or 47.24  inches

The skirt is length: 71 cm (28 inches) + high waist of about 10 cm (4 inches)

waist circumference max 75 cm (29.5 inches). It fits at a smaller waist because the waist  must be overlapped a little bit .

The mannequin is 61-63 cm (24 inches - 25 inches) and this skirt slightly loose fits . The slit should be zipped or buttoned. Normally, when worn as a traditional costume, the slit is placed in front and then it is covered with aprons.

the circumference of the skirt at the hem is about 280 cm or 110 inches

Good to very good condition with no noticeable flaw . Clean and professionally reconditioned. You can see that it is a very old Romanian folk costume .

It is wearable but I also recommend it to collectors or museums as a typical Bihor folk costume.
