Handmade vintage Romanian costume from Bihor

This is a very old traditional Romanian costume that was handmade in Transylvania, Bihor, most likely between 1930 and 1960. The Romanian folk costume is made from hand-woven fabric that is thick and similar in texture to denim. It is beautifully embroidered with blue cotton on the shoulders, cuffs, chest , collar  and lower part of the skirt.

This Romanian traditional  costume can fit sizes  S or S - M, and German sizes 34-36, possibly even 38. The neck measures 32 cm (12.6 inches) . The distance from neck to shoulder seam is 16 cm ( 6.3 inches ) and the circumference around the shoulder seam is 38 cm (15 inches), and the sleeve length from the neck is 70 cm (27.55 inches) with a frill of 7 cm ( 2.75 inches ) .

The Romanian traditional  blouse is 57 cm ( 22.44  inches ) from arm pit to arm pit .

The blouse is 54 cm (21.25 inches) in length.

Skirt: waist circumference 74 cm or 29 inches

           length: 68 cm or 26.77 inches + waist : 11 cm ( 4.3 inches )

Age: 60-80 years

Condition: very good for its age, professionally reconditioned and clean, ready to wear. 

This Romanian traditional  costume is in good to very good condition, with no noticeable flaws, and has been professionally reconditioned. Although it is wearable, it is also recommended for collectors or museums as a typical Bihor costume.

When worn as a traditional costume, the slit is usually placed in front and then covered with aprons. The mannequin used for display has a waist of 61-63 cm (24-25 inches), and the skirt fits perfectly .
