Traditional Romanian Costume from Sibiu Valcea Area

An old traditional Romanian costume from the Sibiu Valcea region, consisting of two pieces: a traditional Romanian dress with applied bands and hand embroidery in black, and a pair of superb old aprons.

1. Dress Details:

This traditional Romanian dress adorned with hand-embroidered flowers and applied stripes from Transylvania is a true jewel. Although it has a lot of fabric around the chest for larger sizes, it is recommended for sizes L-XL due to the 37 cm (14.56 " )neck circumference.

Size L-XL, the smallest part of this dress is the neck circumference.

With a length of 132 cm ( 52 " ), a chest and waist circumference of 160 cm ( 63 " ) and a sleeve length measured from the neck to the hem of 64 cm ( 25 " ), this timeless traditional Romanian dress, in such an unusual size, will add a stunning touch to your wardrobe.

The armhole circumference is 80 cm ( 31.5 " ).

This traditional dress has a deep slit on the chest, but the dress is so wide that when the neck button is closed, the slit gets lost among the fabric folds. Metal snaps can be added, or a decorative stitch can be made higher up.

Please note that this handmade blouse, dated between 1930-1950, is in good condition with signs of wear. It has been restored, washed, and is ready to wear. However, the black hand embroidery may show some discoloration due to age and repeated washing.

2. Wool aprons Details:

A pair of traditional black wool aprons decorated with hand embroidery in black silk and yellow cotton accents.

They are old but almost unused.

These should be dry cleaned only.

The Romanian traditional costume is exceptionally beautiful, typical of the mountainous area in southern Transylvania, and so rare to find in this size.
