Rare Romanian folk costume from Sibiu-Valcea with stripes and multicolored flowers

Traditional Romanian Costume from the Carpathian Mountains, Valcea Region . This traditional Romanian clothing  is hand-sewn, old , hand embroidered , hand woven and consisting of three pieces:

1.Romanian traditional Dress for Women

Adorned with captivating multicolored hand embroidery and black fabric stripes .

Made from fine commercial cotton

Designed to fit size M

Dimensions of this authentic old dress :

Dress length: 129 cm (50.79 inches)

Chest circumference: 140 cm (55.12 inches)

Waist circumference: 130 cm (51.18 inches)

Sleeve length from neck: 68 cm (26.77 inches)

Neck circumference: 39 cm (15.35 inches)

Cuff circumference: 22 cm (8.66 inches)

Armhole circumference: 24 cm x 2 = 48 cm (9.45 inches x 2 = 18.90 inches, on the bias)

Although it appears to have a lot of material around the chest and may seem suitable for larger sizes, the blouse does not exceed size M (EU sizes 38-40) due to the small neck and armhole measurements of 48 cm (18.90 inches, on the bias).

Defects:

Black stripes have discolorations here and there

Hand-made lace at the hem has well-executed repairs in a few places

Approximately from the 1950s

Carefully restored, washed, and ready to wear. While the black hand embroidery may show slight fading due to the age of this authentic blouse and repeated washing, it adds character and authenticity to this captivating piece of Romanian folk costume.

Very old and extremely well-preserved

Black ribbons on the edges have been added recently

This superb old folk costume is often copied by famous fashion houses without giving credit to the source of their inspiration: the ancient, authentic Romanian folk art.
