This stunning Romanian traditional dress from the Oltenia region is hand-embroidered with orange, green, and purple/indigo cotton thread on fine white hand woven cotton fabric, which was handwoven in households decades ago. This homespun fabric is the finest and thinnest from Romania, and was predominantly used in Southern Romania.
This day-to-day Romanian folk dress is in excellent condition, with only minor signs of wear and tear, and no noticeable stains or repairs. It features tie strings at the back yoke, which were added later as the dress has not been worn in the last 40-50 years.
The folk dress is XXS-XS-S in size, with plenty of fabric around the chest or waist, but is small from under the armpit to the neck. The armpit hole measures 17cm (6.7 inches), and the shoulder-to-shoulder length is 38cm (15 inches). The dress length is 120cm (47.24 inches), and the chest and waist measurements are 108cm (42.5 inches) and 120cm (47.24 inches), respectively. The long sleeves are decorated with hand-stitched frills.
Pairing this Romanian folk dress with a set of aprons will complete a full Oltenia ethnic costume suitable for everyday wear. The fabric is easy to clean in a washing machine, using medium-warm water and without bleach or bleaching agents. The dress can be hung to dry, and there's no need to press it as the fabric is naturally excellent to wear.
Please note that the belt shown in the images is for display purposes only and is not included with the dress.
