Romanian folk dress from Transylvania, handmade ethnic dress from Banat

This vintage Romanian traditional dress from western Transylvania's Banat folkoric region is a rare and exquisite piece. It features beautiful hand embroideries in green and brown cross stitch on the sleeves, front, and lower hem of the skirt. The Romanian folk  dress is made from hand-woven and hand-loomed cotton fabric, crafted from organic fibers grown in households.

The dress is estimated to fit sizes M, M-L, or possibly L, but it's important to check the measurements.

The underarm to underarm measurement is 61 cm or 24 inches

the waist measurement is 118 cm or 46.45 inches

and the dress length is 124 cm or 48.8 inches.

The neck measurement is 48 cm or 18.89 inches

and the sleeve length from the base of the neck is 66 cm or 26 inches.

This vintage Romanian peasant  dress is between 40 to 60 years old, dating back to the period of 1960 to 1980. It is in nice vintage condition, with only minor signs of wear and tear. There are some pale gray stains here and there, one of which is captured in the photos. It's believed that these stains will fade with time as the dress is washed. The  traditional dress is quite heavy, weighing around 2 kilos or 4 pounds. The hand-loomed fabric is as thick as denim, making it a durable and long-lasting piece of clothing.
