Antique Hand-Embroidered Romanian Traditional Dress:
This stunning folk dress has been restored and enlarged by adding gussets under the armpits and from armpits to the waistline.
Hand-embroidered with blue cotton thread on home-woven flax/cotton fabric this Romanian folk dress dates back to the early 1900s. Antiquated dresses from Transylvania typically feature a different cut compared to modern women's sizes, hence the need for enlarging gussets under the armpits for wearability.
Condition: In a pleasing vintage condition, with no tears or noticeable stains.
Size: Suitable for a loose fit in size M or L.
Measurements:
Dress Length: 109 cm or 43 inches
Shoulder to Waist: 49 cm or 19.3 inches
Chest Circumference: 114 cm or 44.88 inches
Shoulder to Armpit: 22 cm or 8.66 inches
Sleeve Length: 55 cm or 21.65 inches
Waist Circumference: 108 cm or 42.51 inches
This dress is secured at the shoulders with strings and adorned with intricate open-work, blue hand embroideries on the cuffs and chest. The skirt features similar embroideries around the lower hem and is gathered at the waist.
The circumference around the lower hem measures 240 cm or 95 inches.
Age: Estimated to be between 80 to 100 years old.
Romanian Apron from Transylvania:
Hand-embroidered with multicolor thread on black linen, this vintage apron from Transylvania is in very good condition, with only slight discoloration visible.
This is a very scarce Romanian traditional costume from southern Maramures .
