1800s antique tablecloth from Transylvania, antique dated 1893 Hungarian tablecloth
Antique tablecloth, dated 1893 from Northern Transylvania / Maramures county.
Splendid antique Hungarian tablecloth from Transylvania .It is a very old table girl belonging to the Hungarian culture from the north of Maramures.One of kind item, extremely rare piece of textile, museum quality.
It is sewn by hand in cross stitch with cotton thread in two colors: red and dark blue. The model contains the tulip, the flower that we find on the embroideries of the Hungarians next to the acorns. Along with the phytomorphic pattern is written in Hungarian on one side of the tablecloth "KESZITETTE AZ 1893 dik EVBEN" which translates to "Handmade in 1893" and on the other half is hand - sewn the name of the woman who sewed the tablecloth: CEBEL LINKA. The tablecloth is sewn on hand - woven / homespun linen. It is decorated on all sides with handmade crochet.
Measures: 2. 1. x 1. 3 meters (82. 6 inches x 51 inches) measured without the lace border
The lace is 13 cm (5 inches) wide on 2 edges and 3 cm (1. 1 inches) on the other 2 edges.
Condition: museum quality. No stain, no hole, no tear. Only the lace border show few tears here and there.
