Rare Vintage Romanian Blouse from Gorj – Hand-Embroidered Folk Blouse, 1950s

This rare vintage Romanian blouse ("ie") originates from the Gorj region and dates back to the 1950s. Entirely hand-embroidered using fine black cotton thread on white commercial cotton fabric, it is an authentic example of Romanian folk craftsmanship.

The sleeve ruffles are traditionally formed by gathering the cuffs with a thin cotton string — part of the blouse's original design. This feature can be modernized by replacing the thread with a subtle inner elastic or removed entirely for a relaxed fit. The blouse has been carefully washed and is ready to wear.

Over time, it has been extended with a piece of similar white cotton fabric, maintaining its original aesthetic and proportions. The blouse fits sizes M–L comfortably.

Good vintage condition. Due to its age, the original black embroidery thread has slightly faded to a dark gray, which is its only flaw. The structure and fabric remain strong and intact. A beautiful and collectible example of authentic Romanian folk heritage.
