Handmade Romanian traditional dress from Oltenia with purple embroidery

This beautiful traditional Romanian dress from Oltenia is hand-embroidered with violet cotton thread on a fine, handwoven cotton fabric. The traditional fabric was woven by hand in households decades ago. This homemade fabric is the finest and thinnest in Romania and was predominantly used in the southern region of Romania.

This long, everyday popular Romanian dress is in good condition, with only minor signs of wear and no visible stains or repairs. It fastens with metal snaps on the chest and at the neck, which have been recently replaced. The old ones were rusted, and some rust can still be seen around the neck area on the inside of the blouse. The rust is not visible on the exterior of the dress.
