This is a vintage Romanian ensemble with a strong traditional appeal, crafted by hand in Transylvania, Bihor region, most likely in the period spanning 1930-1960. The fabric used for the costume is handmade and thick, resembling denim in texture, and it features intricate white cotton embroidery on the shoulders, cuffs, chest sleeves, neck, and lower part of the skirt.
The outfit is tailored to fit sizes M-L. The adjustable neck measures 37 cm (14.56 inches) and can be extended using strings to accommodate larger neck sizes. The shoulder seam circumference is 38 cm (14.9 inches), and the sleeve length from the neck is 71 cm (28 inches) without the frill of 7 cm (2.75 inches).
The Romanian blouse's chest circumference measures 140 cm (55 inches) from arm pit to arm pit, while the length of the blouse is 52 cm (20.4 inches). The skirt is 67 cm (26.37 inches) long, with a high waist of approximately 10 cm (4 inches) and a maximum waist circumference of 110 cm (43.3 inches). For waist circumferences smaller than 110 cm, the waistband is overlapped at back and tied at the front. Overlapping creates a pleat at the back.
The skirt's hemline has a circumference of around 250 cm (98 inches). The costume is in excellent condition, without any noticeable defects, and has been expertly restored. While it can be worn, it is more suited for museum collections or collectors looking for a quintessential Bihor ensemble.
In traditional wear, the slit is typically covered with aprons. The mannequin used for display has a waist measurement of 61-63 cm (24-25 inches), and the skirt fits loose.
