Antique hand woven bed sheet from Transylvania

One exceptional  handwoven cotton bed sheet, coverlet, cover, duvet. This extraordinary textile originates from Northern Transylvania and was handwoven on a traditional loom over 50-80 years ago. Due to the narrow nature of a traditional loom, the bed sheet is crafted from three panels of handwoven fabric seamlessly stitched together. On one side, the bed sheet boasts a delicately hand-crocheted lace border in cotton.

The weaving is remarkable, sturdy, and adorned with a beautiful geometrical pattern in its texture. The technique employed to create these textiles, featuring motifs that stand out in relief, is one of the oldest and most intricate weaving techniques known as weaving over the threads. The weaving is done by hand, using three threads (3 ite).

Condition: In good condition with no repairs, noticeable stains, or holes. It has been very gently used and carefully stored in a dowry chest for years. Clean and ready for use.
