This is a rare vintage handwoven tablecloth from Transylvania, Romania, dating approximately from the 1950s–1960s. It features a traditional red and white floral pattern, crafted entirely by hand on a narrow household loom — a beautiful example of Romanian folk textile art.
Because the loom used was narrow, the tablecloth is made from two separate woven panels, connected by a central decorative handwoven strip — a characteristic technique in authentic Romanian craftsmanship.
The fabric is 100% cotton, woven with vibrant red and white threads. Over time, tiny red cotton fibers (lint) from the red sections have naturally migrated onto the white areas, giving them a soft pink hue. This is not due to dye transfer, but rather the presence of red lint scattered across the white surface — a common and charming trait of genuine vintage handwoven textiles. The colors themselves are stable and do not bleed when washed.
