This authentic vintage Romanian towel was handwoven in Transylvania from 100% cotton, featuring intricate red geometric folk motifs on a white background. Dating back to the mid-20th century, it is a striking example of traditional craftsmanship and rural textile art from Eastern Europe.
The towel measures 168 cm in length plus 9 cm of delicate handmade lace at each end (approx. 70 in + 3.5 in), and 50 cm in width (approx. 19.7 in). Traditionally used to decorate icon corners, dowry chests, or guest room walls, such textiles also served as meaningful gifts at weddings and religious ceremonies.
In very good vintage condition, this piece is well preserved, showcasing the refined weaving techniques and symbolic folk patterns typical of the Transylvanian region.
