This authentic vintage tablecloth from Transylvania is a remarkable example of Romanian folk textile craftsmanship, entirely handwoven on a traditional loom approximately 60 to 90 years ago. Made from a blend of cotton and linen, the cloth has a warm cream tone characteristic of linen-rich fabrics.
The tablecloth is constructed from two narrow panels of handwoven fabric, joined with a strip of commercial lace. This traditional joining method was necessary because historical weaving looms in rural areas could not produce fabric wider than about 60 cm.
At each end, the tablecloth features intricate, raised woven motifs that resemble cherries, offering both texture and visual appeal. The relief weaving technique adds depth to the design while preserving the integrity of the hand-spun fibers.
Material: Cotton and linen blend
Dimensions: 175 cm x 115 cm (approximately 69 x 45 inches)
Age: Estimated 60–90 years old
Condition: Very good vintage condition, with minimal signs of use and no stains, holes, or repairs
This piece is perfect for collectors of Romanian folk art, vintage linen lovers, or for use in traditional or rustic-style interior settings.
