This is a very old, traditional Romanian skirt from the Arad region of Transylvania. Entirely handmade, it is sewn and embroidered on homespun hemp fabric using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Around the hem, you'll find delicate cross-stitch embroidery in red and black cotton thread, along with a row of fine hand-crocheted lace.
The waistband measures 106 cm (approx. 41.7 inches) and is fastened with cords that wrap securely around the waist. If you need a smaller fit, the skirt can be easily adjusted: the waistband can be detached and shortened to the desired measurement, and the skirt fabric will be gathered onto the new, shortened waistband.
It measures 76 cm in length (approx. 29.9 inches) with a hem circumference of 240 cm (approx. 94.5 inches). Although very old and rare, the skirt is in excellent condition — a true museum-quality piece of Romanian textile heritage.
