Vintage Hand-Pleated Transylvanian Apron and Skirt Set – 1970s-1980s

This beautiful vintage Romanian  folk costume set includes a pleated wrap skirt and a matching apron, both originating from Transylvania and dating back to the 1970s–1980s. Traditionally worn by Romanian and Hungarian women in the region, these pieces are rich in cultural heritage and artisanal craftsmanship.

The wrap skirt is crafted from a synthetic silk-blend fabric in a deep burgundy color. It features a pleated design and ties at the waist with a long fabric belt. As is customary, the overlapping slit of the skirt is covered by a vibrant apron when worn as part of the traditional ensemble.

The apron is made of lightweight, vividly colored silk, and complements the skirt beautifully. Together, the set can be worn as part of a folk costume or styled individually for a unique bohemian look.

Both the skirt and the apron are in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear.
