This is an old traditional Romanian skirt from Bihor. It is handmade:
hand embroidered on homemade woven fabric, and it's been around for over 50 years.
It's a traditional skirt with a high waist and a "fodor," which means a rich ruffle applied around the entire circumference of the skirt. It features handmade crochet inserts, delicate hand embroidery decorations, and a row of crocheted lace at the hem.
The skirt has a length of 67 cm ( 26.37 ) , a high waist of approximately 10 cm ( 3.93 " ) , and a maximum waist circumference of 110 cm ( 43.3 " ). For waist circumferences slightly smaller than 110 cm, the waist is overlapped at the back and tied with the skirt's cords. The overlap creates a pleat at the back.
Normally, when worn as part of a traditional costume, the skirt is fastened in the front, and the slit is covered with an apron. The skirt's hem has a circumference of approximately 250 cm ( 98 " ) . The traditional skirt is in good condition, with no visible defects.
