Rare Vintage Romanian Folk Costume from Banat – Handcrafted 4-Piece Traditional Outfit

Discover a rare vintage Romanian folk costume from Banat, carefully handcrafted more than 60-80 years ago. This 4-piece traditional ensemble is a collectible heritage set, fully authentic and preserved in its original condition, with minor age-appropriate wear that enhances its historical value.

Set Includes:

1. Traditional Blouse (Ie)
Handmade from thick hemp and linen fabric, embroidered with black cotton thread and delicate red, yellow, and blue accents. The black embroidery has faded due to age, highlighting the blouse’s authentic vintage character.
Original old button closure at the neck. The sleeves end with voluminous ruffles, gathered by an inner elastic band. The ruffles are slightly worn, with some small holes and portions of the crocheted lace trim missing—easy to restore, but we kept it as found to preserve its museum quality.

Blouse Measurements (Size M-L):

• Shoulder width: 43 cm (16.9 in)

• Sleeve length from neck: 60 cm (23.6 in)

• Arm circumference near shoulder: 40 cm (15.7 in)

• Bust circumference: 120 cm (47.2 in)

• Blouse length: 56 cm (22 in) – extended with a vintage fabric panel similar to the original.

2. Skirt
Vintage skirt from the same hemp-linen fabric, featuring hand embroidery in black at the hem and a crocheted lace border. Originally tied with a cord, it has been updated with an elastic waistband for easier wear.

Skirt Measurements:

• Hem circumference: 194 cm (76.3 in)

3. Wool Apron (Catrinta)
Black wool apron with colorful floral embroidery at the bottom, created with multicolored wool yarn and metallic silver and gold threads. Finished with a black velvet border.

Apron Measurements:

• Length: 67.5 cm (26.5 in)

• Width: 53 cm (20.8 in)

4. Traditional Belt (New)
A newly made traditional belt to complete the ensemble.

Condition:
The entire costume has been cleaned and is ready to wear. Given its age, the fabric shows minor traces of natural wear and light marks, but nothing disturbing. This is a rare, collectible piece of Romanian cultural heritage.
