Traditional Romanian Costume from Banat

Comprising two pieces: a very old handmade traditional dress and a wide red velvet apron.

Ideal for sizes M-L, the traditional dress has the following measurements:

Bust (measured from one underarm to the other): 62 cm ( 24.4 " )

Waist circumference: 130 cm  (51.1 " )

Dress length: 120 cm ( 47.24 " )

Sleeve length (measured from the neck): 65 cm (25.6 " 0

The dress is over 80-100 years old and is in good condition, with only subtle signs of wear, such as a few fine light blue spots (small streaks) on the skirt area, caused by the blue from the tricolor embroidery slightly transferring onto the white fabric. The spots are diffuse and not noticeable when worn.

At the back, under the arm, there is a faint yellowish stain, likely due to non-organic causes such as antiperspirant, perfumes, or metallic sequins.

The dress is adjustable at the neckline to ensure a perfect fit.

The embroidery is particularly beautiful, found on the chest, sleeves, and especially on the skirt, where the tricolor embroidery is also featured. The hem of the skirt is adorned with handmade lace. The metallic sequins have rusted, bearing testimony to the age of this exceptionally beautiful Romanian blouse.

The front apron, made of red velvet, is decorated with golden metallic sequins and handmade embroidery. It is in good, clean condition.

The reverse side is unfinished, unhemmed, or unlined because women in rural areas 60-80 years ago worked exclusively by hand, without sewing machines.
