Traditional Romanian clothing - old handmade Romanian folk attire from Oltenia

Fabulous Romanian traditional costume consisting of 3 pieces : handmade Romanian folk dress, wool traditional skirt and a belt : 

1.Traditional Romanian Dress or Romanian Blouse with Skirt from Oltenia

This is an old, hand-sewn Romanian folk blouse dress made on fine homemade fabric. The colors of the cross-stitch embroidery are black, green, and brown. It is size M-L or larger, but suitable for a lady no taller than 1.65 m (5'5").

The blouse was found without a hem, frayed at the bottom. I have hand hemmed it and attached it to the skirt by hand. It can be easily separated to make a blouse and skirts separately if you have old handmade  fabric to extend the Romanian  blouse. The skirt still have the tunnel for elastic on the inside.

Measurements:

Sleeve length from neck: 59 cm (23.23 inches)

Dress length: 109 cm (42.91 inches) with 36 cm (14.17 inches) to the waist

Chest circumference: 130 cm (51.18 inches)

Waist circumference: 130 cm (51.18 inches)

Armhole: 44 cm (17.32 inches)

This Romanian folk dress is not torn or repaired.It is washed and ready to wear. Here and there you can see 2-3 loose threads in the embroidery; I believe there were once sequins attached, but I did not find any sequins on it.

The black color is slightly faded, but this does not detract from its beauty at all.

The fabric is the handwoven finest Romanian folk cloth.

2. Woolen traditional Romanian overskirt (valnic) with a black background. It is an overlapping Romanian folk skirt fastened with a pin at the waist and then secured with a belt. The hem at the bottom edge is brown with gold thread inserts.

The waist is gathered, and its size can be adjusted by loosening the pleats at the waist. As it is currently gathered, it measures 80 cm (31.5") at the waist, so it will fit a waist smaller than 75 cm in circumference. Ideally suited for waists between 60-70 cm to create an overlapping look.

Hem circumference: 261 cm (103")

Beautiful, in good condition, with normal signs of wear for its age.

It is a medium-thickness Romanian skirt (valnic ), suitable for all seasons.

3. Traditional handmade belt which is new .
