Old traditional Romanian clothing from Banat - Romanian folk costume

Old traditional Romanian folk costume from the Banat region. This Banat folk costume consists of: an old traditional dress and a pair of velvet aprons decorated with beads.

The traditional Romanian dress is handmade with white embroidery around the sleeve ruffle. The ruffle is also decorated with hand-crocheted lace. Around the hem, there is a border of store-bought lace. The dress is made of old, handwoven cotton fabric. The top part of the dress (the blouse) is milk-white, while the skirt is slightly yellowish. When viewed in sunlight, the skirt appears slightly faded here and there, likely due to the detergents used. However, when worn, these discolorations on the skirt are not visible, especially since the dress is worn with a pair of aprons.

The dress is gathered around waist line .

Pair of black velvet aprons decorated with beads. The front one is wide, typical of Western Transylvania. The back apron is narrower. They have no defects, just slight signs of use. They are lined with cotton and decorated with old lace.

The traditional Romanian costume is handmade, most likely between 1960-1980.
