Old Romanian folk costume from Oltenia

Old traditional Romanian costume from Oltenia consisting of 3 pieces: traditional Romanian dress (traditional Romanian blouse with skirt), a pair of cotton aprons and a traditional belt:

Romanian dress, traditional Oltenian dress, handmade with burgundy  cotton thread on old hand-woven fabric.

The handmade embroidery is arranged on the shoulders, neckline, sleeve hems and hem of the dress.

The deep neckline is closed at the top with metal snaps.

Clean, ready to wear. No defects. It is a well-preserved old Romanian traditional blouse- dress .

Size M-L

Neck circumference: 35 cm (13.8 inches). It might be difficult to close at the neck. I would add metal snaps lower on the neckline cut and leave it open at the neck.

Shoulders: 42 cm (16.5 inches)

Shoulder + sleeve: 58 cm (22.8 inches)

Chest circumference: 140 cm (55.1 inches)

Waist circumference: 128 cm (50.4 inches)

Length: 110 cm (43.3 inches)

Around the shoulder: 22 x 2 = 44 cm (8.7 x 2 = 17.3 inches)

An absolutely wonderful traditional Romanian dress for collectors or to be worn for another 40-50 years.

It has a special cut, so we do not recommend wearing it separately but as part of a complete Romanian folk costume.

A pair of traditional cotton aprons, hand-woven with multicolored floral patterns on a burgundy background. Typical of Oltenia, the front apron has the pattern arranged in horizontal rows while the back apron has flowers arranged in vertical rows to give the wearer a feminine and elongated appearance. Women danced in the hora ( circle ) while the boys stood on the edge and admired them dancing. Therefore, special emphasis was placed on the back apron, as it was the most visible.

In very good condition, these old aprons (traditional skirts) have no holes or repairs despite being 50-80 years old. Only the ribbon that trims them has been recently changed.
