Traditional Romanian clothing from Oltenia with white embroidered dress

Old Romanian traditional costume from  Oltenia formed of 3 pieces : Romanian hand embroidered dress , traditional silk embroidered skirt and a new belt . 

1 .Exquisite, handmade traditional Romanian dress  from Oltenia, crafted over 50 years ago. This piece is most likely a traditional bridal dress, evident from the delicate lace embroidery adorning the upper part of the dress. Unlike typical crochet, the lace is a fine openwork, created by the artisan through the meticulous process of thread extraction and openwork-style embroidery over the remaining threads.

The intricate openwork embroidery decorates the shoulders, chest, cuffs, and neckline, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship. The hem of the dress is adorned with a row of hand-embroidered multicolored flowers, adding a vibrant touch to the piece. The sleeves are straight-cut, and the chest slit is secured with metal snaps.

Shoulder + Sleeve: 70 cm (27.6 inches)

Sleeve Armhole: 20 cm x 2 = 40 cm (7.9 inches x 2 = 15.8 inches)

Chest Circumference: 98 cm (38.6 inches)

Waist: 100 cm (39.4 inches)

Length: 119 cm (46.9 inches)

Condition:

Very good, with only slight signs of use.

Age:50-60 years old.

This traditional Romanian dress  is in excellent condition, reflecting its age and careful preservation. 

2.New handmade belt

3.Romanian traditional skirt, hand embroidered with white off, gray and yellow silk thread on a black handwoven wool background.

Skirt length: 69 cm or 27. 16 inches.

Around the waist: 87 cm or 34 inches. As it is, it will fit at a waist circumference  of no more than 85 cm or 33 inches.

Around the lower hem it is edged with a new black ribbon.

Romanian folk skirt ( valnic ) is pleated around waist .

Skirt age: 60 - 80 years

Condition: Good condition showing normal signs of wear for its age. Off-white or gray and yellow silk embroidery on a black wool background. 

Condition : good with traces of wear  .No holes or repairs. The ribbon around the hem is recently changed.

Cleaning instructions : dry clean only
