Romanian traditional costume from Oltenia with black embroidered dress

Old Romanian traditional costume, beautifully hand crafted, consisting of a handwoven Romanian dress , a  folk wool skirt, and a braided wool belt. Size L or XL, as the traditional blouse is large; the smallest size of this costume could be the waist circumference of the wool skirt; please check the waist circumference of the wool skirt , listed below .

The traditional Romanian dress is handwoven with black cotton thread. The  hand woven pattern presents a dense and compact arrangement, beautifully adorning the chest, sleeves, and hem. Delicate lace enhances the sleeves, adding charm to this traditional piece. It has a very rich and beautiful pattern.Age: over 60 years. Size: L-XL. 

Chest circumference: 164 cm (64.5"). 

Waist circumference: 148 cm (58.2").

Sleeve length (measured from the base of the neck): 67 cm, including lace (26.37"). 

Length: 119 cm (46.85"). 

Condition: This Romanian traditional dress is in good condition, free of any stains or tears but with the normal wear expected from a textile of this age. No major defects have been observed. However, the black shade has slightly faded over the years, now revealing a charming dark gray hue.

Handwoven wool skirt, thick with wide pleats. The skirt is a piece of traditional attire worn only on Sundays at church or on more special occasions such as weddings and baptisms. It is thicker, suitable for cold weather and has a satin ribbon that has been recently replaced. There are 3 repairs at the waist; please refer to the photos for details. The repairs are very well done and not visible when worn as they are hidden in the pleats (check the last 3-4 photos). It is slightly faded, probably made from home-dyed wool.

 Waist, as pleated: 83 cm (33"), so you should have a waist circumference of less than 75 cm (29.5") for the skirt to fit nicely, slightly overlapping.

Hem circumference: 3.2 m (126").
