Antique Romanian folk costume with red handmade pattern

Splendid antique Romanian folk costume from Oltenia folkloric region consisting of 3 pieces : hand embroidered antique Romanian dress, hand woven traditional wool skirt and an antique wool belt .

1.Very old traditional Romanian folk dress, in very good condition. It is a traditional dress from Oltenia, handmade more than 70-80 years ago. This peasant dress is hand-embroidered with burgundy-colored cotton thread on an organic canvas, hand-woven in the household from natural fibers: cotton and flax. Notable is the cloth  "with cinari" or with checks, the special cloth woven in white checks that we find on the more special traditional shirts, the Romanian blouses worn on special occasions. On this dress we have the cloth with checks used in the upper part of the dress .

Size M- L-XL with the following dimensions:

shoulders: 43 cm ( 17 " )

from shoulder to under arm: 22 cm (8.66 " )

shoulder+sleeve length: 60 cm (23.6 )

circumference over the chest: 140 cm (55 " )

waist circumference: 134 cm (52.75 " )

dress length: 121 cm (47.63" )

Condition: wonderful, without defects, seems very little used.

2.Romanian wool skirt, traditional pleated wool skirt worn on special occasions .

The Romanian folk skirt is adjustable with strings around the waist. 

This is an overlapping skirt.

Measuring:

the maximum circumference around the waist, as it is pleated at this time, is 78 cm or 30.7 inches. So the skirt will fit as it is on any waist circumference less than 76 cm or 30 inches.

the circumference of the lower hem is 3.3 meters or 130 inches

skirt length: 70 cm or 27.55 inches

Skirt age: 50 - 60 years or more .

The edges are covered with new cherry taffeta.

Condition: good condition showing normal signs of wear for its age. No breakage, no visible stains or repairs. Never clean, those hand-woven skirts should be cleaned only dry !!!

3.Antique Romanian hand-woven traditional ethnic wool belt. It is in vintage good condition with some traces of wear, but there are no tears or repairs. It was handmade between 1920 and 1950. The sash measures 260 cm long (102.35 inches) and 7 cm (2.75 inches) wide.
