Vintage traditional handmade Romanian costume from Oltenia

Very old Romanian folk costume from Oltenia/Mehedinti region, which includes three pieces: a handmade Romanian dress, a woolen traditional skirt, and a new acrylic belt.

1 .Wonderful traditional Romanian dress from the Oltenia region. The dress is hand-embroidered with cotton thread on a finely crafted white cotton material produced in the household. The fabric has subtle vertical stripes in a purplish texture, which is a characteristic of the manually woven fabric in Mehedinti, called "panza cu cinari" in Romanian - a fine, special fabric used for festive attire. 

It is in good condition, with only slight signs of wear. No repairs, no obvious stains. Clean and ready to wear. I washed it in a washing machine at 90 degrees Celsius. 

Age: 50-60 years old or more . 

Size: M-L, can also fit XL.

Dimensions: 

dress length: 114cm (44.88 inches)

chest circumference: 126 cm (49.61 inches)

waist circumference: 126 cm (49.61 inches). The sleeves are long. The skirt is wide and has an A-line shape.

2 . Woolen "valnic" skirt (traditional wide skirt) folded around waist , aged 60-80 years old, maybe even older, manually woven with fine multicolored wool and cotton thread. The background is black with thin dark grey vertical stripes. The embroidery is 3D, worked with a Persian needle. It is a medium-thick pleated "valnic" from Oltenia, suitable for the summer period. It is pleated around the waist and is an overlapping skirt . 

It can also be closed with a button and can adapt to a waist circumference of up to 80 cm (31.5 inches). You can move the button anywhere you want along the waistline. 

Skirt length: 70 cm (27.55 inches). 

Hem circumference: 300 cm (118 inches). 

Waist as it is now pleated: 80 cm (31.5 inches). 

The red satin ribbon around the hem is new. 

Condition: good, with signs of wear. It is discolored, and the right side is more discolored than the left. Now, this more discolored part is covered by the other part because I pleated it back around the waist so that the more discolored part is covered by the overlapping of the skirt. Few repairs here and there on the black background of the skirt .Some repairs are difficult to identify , they are done very well. These  folk Romanian skirts sewn with a Persian needle are very, very old, and their condition is rarely very good. This one is washed, professionally cleaned, professionally repaired, and restored, and can still be worn for another half a century.

3 .New acrylic belt

Despite of the flaws mentioned above , this Romanian costume is beautiful and wearable .
