Antique Romanian folk costume from Transylvania , Arad

This is an authentic Romanian folk costume from the Arad region of Transylvania, consisting of three pieces: a vintage, handmade Romanian traditional blouse, a matching handmade folk skirt, and a beautifully pleated apron from Western Transylvania.

The Romanian blouse is made of black cotton and hand-woven hemp and linen canvas, with gold sequin accents on the sleeves and neck that indicate it was a special garment worn for celebrations such as weddings or church events. The sleeves feature intricate embroidery, wide cuffs . The Romanian blouse feature lace detailing around the neckline. The skirt closes at the front and is covered by the apron.

Romanian blouse : length 47 cm or 18.5 inches

                             sleeve length measured from the base of the neck: 59 cm or 23.22 inches

                             chest circumference: 106 cm or 41.73 inches

Skirt: waist circumference 70 cm or 27.55 inches

          length: 73 cm or 28.74 inches

Age: 60-80 years

Condition: very good for its age, professionally reconditioned and clean, ready to wear. 

The vintage Romanian traditional apron is a valuable piece, believed to be handmade in the 1970s or 1980s in the Cluj, Arad and Salaj regions of Romania. It is a black wool or wool blend fabric, pleated by hand to create a flowing effect, with exquisite embroidery and "bocori" , the vertical rws of embroidery . The folk apron is 68 cm (26.77 inches) long with a waist measurement of 31 cm (12.2 inches) (excluding the cord). This Romanian pleated apron is in excellent vintage condition with no holes or repairs and only minimal signs of wear.
