Old Romanian traditional apron with pleats and hand embroidery

Handcrafted in the Kalotaszegi ( Calata in Romanian )region of Cluj, Romania, this exquisite apron, known locally as "Zadie cu bocori," boasts intricate hand embroidery and meticulous hand pleating. The traditional motifs, skillfully rendered with multi colored thread, showcase the region's artisanal heritage. Reflecting traditional techniques, the apron is meticulously folded and adorned with splendid and finest hand embroidery  along the waist too . It is decorated with beads .

Designed to fit M-L sizes, this apron measures approximately 35 cm (13.8 inches) around the waist and 89 cm (35 inches) in length, offering a graceful, flowing silhouette. Dating back to the 1970s-1980s, it epitomizes the timeless elegance of Transylvanian craftsmanship.

The fabric is the old style of floral fabric , a blend of cotton and probably wool thread too  : black background with purple flowers .

Worn by both Hungarian and Romanian communities in Western Transylvania, including Cluj, Salaj, Arad, Satu Mare, and Oradea, this apron embodies cultural fusion and regional pride. Despite its age, it remains in good condition, showing some signs of wear as few holes , small holes here and there but not noticeable when the apron is worn . Please note that dry cleaning is recommended for proper maintenance.
