This is a highly valuable vintage Romanian or Hungarian apron from Transylvania , Calata sau Kalotaszegi region , believed to be handmade in the 1950 s or 1960s and restored in 1980-1990 .The apron is made from green fabric and has been hand-pleated to create a stunning, flowing effect. The pleats are hand-stitched and run vertically down the length of the skirt, while the waist features exquisite hand embroidery and "bocori" - the vertical rows of hand embroidey . It is an apron with 3 rows of buds or " bocori "
In Romanian, this traditional apron is called "zadie cu bocori".
The embroidery around waist and the " bocori " are antique . They was handmade on an wool green fabric which was affected by moth . The former owner of this apron , removed the waist embroidery and the vertical rows of buds from the antique apron and added them on a new apron . So the fabric which form the apron ( the green pleated fabric dated from 1980-1990 ) . The embroidered parts ar from an apron dated back in 1950-1960 .
The apron measures 77 cm ( 30.3 inches ) in length and has a waist measurement of 41 cm ( 16.14 inches ) (excluding the cord). It is in good vintage condition , the pleats and embroiderd waist line are in very good condition . On the vertical rows of embroidery are 3-4 small holes , please , check all photos for details , all flaws was captured in my photos .In spite of these 3-4 holes , the apron is stunning and beautiful .
