This hand embroidered and hand pleated apron, called "Zadie cu bocori," ( in Romanian )was hand embroidered and pleated by hand in the Cluj area of the Kalotaszegi region (known as Calata in Romanian). The embroidery is superb, worked on black brocade with grenn silk ribbons. The apron is folded by hand, like all the folk aprons in the area, and the buds ( bocorii or the vertical lines of embroidery ) are hand-sewn in blue-green-black acrylic thread or woolen thread . The model on the waist is also hand-embroidered and superbly done.
The apron is an average size with the following dimensions: around waist 42 cm (16.5 inches), the length is 92 cm (36.22 inches). It is ample, fluid, and beautiful, and is likely from the 1970s-1980s.
This kind of apron is worn by Hungarians from Kalotaszegi region of Transylvania and by Romanian from the same region ( Cluj area , Salaj area , Arad area , Satu Mare )
This apron is in very good condition, lightly used, and has no defects. Please note that it should be dry cleaned only.
