Handcrafted apron from Kalotaszegi region of Transylvania called "Zadie cu bocori," in Romanian. The folk apron is made of black brocade/silk fabric and was hand-pleated and hand-embroidered in the Cluj area of the Kalotaszegi region in Transylvania. The embroidery on the apron is exquisite, featuring black roses in vertical lines called "bocorii." The waist of the apron has a similar hand-sewn model and is adorned with black beads.
The apron is an average size, suitable for a small to medium-sized person. The waist measures around 30 cm (11.8 inches), and the waist embroidery is about 34-37 cm (15.74 inches -17.71 inches) from left to right. The apron's length is 85 cm (33.46 inches), making it ample, fluid, and beautiful. The apron is likely from the 1970s-1980s and is in very good condition, lightly used, and without any defects.
This type of apron is worn by both Hungarians and Romanians from the Kalotaszegi region of Transylvania. It is a unique piece of folk art, with the handcrafted embroidery and pleating techniques making it a valuable and beautiful item. It is important to note that the apron should only be dry cleaned to preserve its quality.
