This is a traditional "zadie cu bocori" apron from Transylvania, featuring hand embroidery around the waistline and two rows of vertical embroidery on the apron. These aprons are typically pleated, adding charm to their unique look. They are worn in certain areas of Cluj, Arad, and Salaj.
The apron is handmade on black cotton commercial fabric with intricate hand embroidery in blue, green, and black silk thread. It was likely crafted between 1970-1990.
The waistline is 33 cm (13 inches) wide and has cords attached to it. The length of the apron is 86 cm (34 inches). It is in very good condition without any major defects such as holes, patches, tears, repairs, or dirt. The apron has slightly faded over time, adding to its vintage look.
Due to the traditional pleating method using hot press, this apron should only be dry cleaned to maintain its unique and delicate appearance.
