This antique Hungarian tablecloth from Transylvania is a true masterpiece of hand embroidery. With more than 100 years of history, it was made in the Székelyvásárhely region or in Romanian: Mures county. This is a beautiful example of Hungarian hand embroidery from Transylvania that dates back to 1913. The tablecloth has the hand-sewn signature "Kocsis Iulie Keszult 1913" which translates to "Handmade in July 1913".
The tablecloth is hand-stitched with black cotton thread on homespun linen with stripes, resulting in a superb textile in good condition. It has no tear or reparation and is of museum quality. The size is 155 cm long x 120 cm wide or 61 inches x 47. 24 inches, measured without the hand crocheted lace border which is 7 cm (2. 75 inches) wide.
This is a rare find and a gorgeous item for any collector of antique textiles. The intricate and detailed hand embroidery on this tablecloth is a testament to the skill and artistry of traditional Hungarian embroidery. It is sure to be a cherished piece for generations to come.
