Vintage Hungarian Folk Skirt - Kalotaszeg Region (Fuchsia Pink)

This stunning vintage Hungarian folk skirt hails from the Kalotaszeg region, near Cluj. Handcrafted from a beautiful piece of old, locally sourced fabric, the traditional Hungarian  skirt boasts intricate hand-pleating throughout most of its length. The vibrant fuchsia pink fabric is further adorned with colorful silk embroidery around the waistband.

This skirt features an overlapping design, with an unpleated section of approximately 8-10 cm. This slit was traditionally closed with a needle and hidden beneath a pleated folk apron as part of the complete costume. However, if you prefer a more conventional style, the overlapping section can easily be sewn shut.

Despite its age, this folk skirt is in wonderful condition with only minor signs of wear, adding to its unique character. Remarkably, there are no major flaws or moth bites. It is estimated to be handmade between 1940 and 1960.
