This is an authentic Romanian traditional men's long shirt, handmade in 1981 in the Banat region. Crafted from thick, durable white homespun fabric made of a linen and cotton blend, the texture is similar to a lightweight denim with a slightly stiff, starched feel. It is a long tunic-style shirt, traditionally worn with a wide woolen sash or leather belt. The collar is a stand-up (mandarin/tunic) type and closes at the front with a lace tie. The buttons at the neck and cuffs are decorative and original to the garment. The collar and cuffs are beautifully hand-embroidered with motifs of stags and birds, likely reflecting the wearer's occupation or symbolic cultural meanings. The black embroidery thread shows natural fading in parts, as two different types of thread were used – a charming sign of its handmade origin. The year “1981” is embroidered by hand on the back of the collar, marking the shirt's date of creation. The hem features a row of traditional ajour (cutwork lace) embroidery. The cuffs measure 19 cm (7.5 in) in circumference and close with buttons. If you prefer a looser fit, the buttons can be replaced with laces, similar to the neckline closure.
