Vintage Romanian Hungarian folk apron from Transylvania

This is a traditional pleated folk apron from Kalotaszeg ,Transylvania, with hand embroidery around the waist and two vertical rows of embroidery on the apron. These aprons are usually pleated, adding to their unique charm. They are worn in certain areas of Cluj, Arad and Salaj both by Romanians and Hungarians .

The apron is handmade on commercial black cotton fabric with a floral print. It was probably made between 1970-1990. It features amazing hand embroidery around the waist and has a size of M-L. The waist measures 43 cm (17 inches) in width and has attached cords. The length of the apron is 80 cm (31.5 inches), and the embroidery around the waist is 50 cm (19.7 inches) wide at the hips. It is in good condition, with no major defects such as holes, patches, tears, repairs, or dirt. However, the apron has faded over time, adding to its vintage look.

Due to the traditional method of hot pressing pleats, this apron should only be dry cleaned to maintain its unique and delicate appearance.
