This is an old traditional Hungarian skirt from the Cluj region,  the Kalotaszegi folkloric region. The folk pleated Hungarian skirt is finely manually pleated and embroidered with black tinny flowers around the waist. It has hand-embroidered blue flower and leaf designs. It is handcrafted on a woolen fabric that resembles "hair" or "cashmere," an old woolen fabric from local trade, manually pleated. The skirt is black with multicolored cotton embroidery. It is an overlapping skirt. The overlapping part is not pleated (approximately 8-10 cm) and can be sewn to transform it into a regular skirt. Otherwise, as part of the folk costume, this slit was closed with a pin and covered with a pleated apron.

The bottom part of this Hungarian folk is lined with blue woolen fabric. This skirt was probably intended to be worn as a "musiu" - an overlapping skirt whose bottom ends are tied at the waist so that the lining appears above (see the last picture for an example). It has a silk pocket sewn in front.

Its condition is acceptable, with signs of wear inherent in a product of this age. It has a larger repair ( 2- cm  or 1 inch long ) on the back, check the penultimate picture for that. There is a very small tear in the waist. The black woolen material has 10-15 small holes due to age or moths, which are not visible when worn because they are very small and few in comparison to the amplitude of the skirt. The skirt has been cleaned and disinfected, but no repair work has been done.

Probably handmade between 1940-1960 or even much older, it is a museum skirt. It is size M-L, with the following dimensions:

waist: 87 cm (34.25 inches)

at the base, without stretching the material, so pleated, it has a circumference of 3 meters (3 yards)

length: 77 cm (30.3 inches)

The price reflect the flaws described above .
